Barcelona have reportedly agreed to sell Spain international Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of almost €50 million ($57 million), according to Spanish media on Thursday.

The two European clubs have reached an agreement in principle for the 26-year-old forward to join PSG on a five-year contract, with sources close to Barcelona cited in the reports.

The transfer is now expected to be completed once the remaining paperwork is finalised and Torres undergoes his medical examination.

Torres, who played a key role in Spain’s World Cup final triumph, is now set to leave Barcelona and continue his career in France with the reigning European giants.

Torres had just one year remaining on his contract with the Spanish champions, who turned down an initial €40 million offer on Monday, according to a club source cited by AFP.

Barcelona signed Torres from Manchester City in 2021 for a fee exceeding €55 million. Since Hansi Flick took charge at the club in the summer of 2024, the forward has primarily operated as a centre-forward, providing cover for Poland striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 26-year-old has frequently made an impact as a substitute and has scored 40 goals in 94 appearances across all competitions over the past two seasons.

Torres, who developed through Valencia’s youth academy, also played a decisive role for Spain, scoring the winning goal in extra time of last month’s World Cup final against Argentina as La Roja secured their second world title.

Torres’ departure would increase the pressure on Flick to strengthen Barcelona’s attacking options, particularly after the exits of Robert Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford.

The Catalan club have already moved to bolster their forward line, signing England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
