Irvin Cardona stars as St Etienne trash Clermont
St Etienne have recording a convincing 3-1 victory over Clermont at home, with Maltese international Irvin Cardona producing an excellent performance.
Cardona opened the scoring in the 41st minute, putting St Etienne in front just four minutes before half-time. The Maltese forward continued to impress after the interval, helping his side maintain control of the match.
Cardona was substituted in the 72nd minute, by which time St Etienne had established a commanding 3-0 lead. Clermont managed to pull a goal back a minute from full-time, but St Etienne comfortably held on to secure another three points.
The victory means St Etienne have collected the maximum six points from their opening two matches and currently sit at the top of the table.
For Cardona, the match provided another positive moment in his St Etienne career, with the Maltese international playing a key role in his side’s impressive start to the campaign.
