Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-time partner Georgina Rodríguez have married in a private ceremony in the Portuguese resort of Cascais, the football star’s representatives confirmed.

The wedding marks the culmination of the couple’s decade-long relationship and comes after days of intense speculation in Portugal over where and when the ceremony would take place.

Ronaldo, 41, appeared to confirm the news himself by sharing a photograph of the couple’s hands displaying their wedding rings on Instagram, accompanied by the caption: “C (heart) G”.

The couple’s five children attended the private and intimate ceremony, according to the Brunswick Group, which handles Ronaldo’s public relations.

The wedding took place exactly one year after Georgina Rodríguez, 32, announced their engagement on Instagram.

Ronaldo currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr and represented Portugal at this summer’s World Cup, where the national team were eliminated in the last 16.

The forward previously enjoyed highly successful spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, while winning the Ballon d’Or five times during his illustrious career.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s relationship

Rodríguez has built a successful public profile of her own, starring in the Netflix series I Am Georgina, which documents her family’s life and offers an insight into their worlds of football, fashion and travel.

The couple first met in 2016 while Rodríguez was working at a Gucci store in Madrid. She has previously described their first encounter as “love at first sight”.

Speaking to Vogue Arabia in 2025, Rodríguez recalled immediately feeling a strong connection with Ronaldo, describing a “sense of peace and an inexplicable energy” that made her feel as though they had known each other forever.

The wedding had been the subject of considerable speculation in the Portuguese media, with reports suggesting the ceremony could take place in Sintra, outside Lisbon, or in Funchal on the island of Madeira, where Ronaldo was born.

Speculation that the wedding would be held in Funchal last weekend attracted hundreds of people to the city’s cathedral in the hope of catching a glimpse of the couple.

The cathedral had previously confirmed to AFP that no wedding ceremony involving Ronaldo was scheduled, although it said hosting such an event would have been “an honour”.

The couple ultimately chose Cascais, an exclusive seaside resort around 30 kilometres (19 miles) west of Lisbon, where they own a villa.
